Lets talk exhibitions…
Exhibitions, group, solo or otherwise bane of my life. A necessary evil I suppose and I must remain grateful for all the lovely comments I get whilst sitting here generally bored to tears, freezing and aching for movement and open spaces.
I’m really not built for sitting doing nothing, neuro divergency sees to that, so I find exhibiting quite draining both physically and mentally. Apparently viewing visual art increases happiness and helps reduce anxiety and mental fatigue…I don’t think that applies to the artist sat here waiting for that sale. I bring my trusted companion for the sake of my sanity, Betsy the demon in a Jack Russell suit, keeps me grounded through frequent outbursts of barking and Tasmanian Devilesque spinning for no apparent reason, the demon also has a neuro brain and some trauma connected to a mineshaft incident, but that’s another tale. To be honest she is more interesting than a lot of people I meet, and she doesn’t demand or ask questions…the same questions over and over
So if you happen upon me and the Demon in a Jack suit at one of my shows, please don’t ask how long a painting takes, how long is a piece of string, or what my inspiration is…clearly I paint seascapes !!! Although if I were completely honest I might say my inspiration now and again is my looming rent, bills and empty cupboards.
