Restless Blues
Restless Blues and its sister piece Cry of the Atlantic are inspired by the hypnotic movement and swell of the Atlantic. With its rugged coastline, West Cornwall puts on a particularly awesome show of power in the winter.
Last Gorse Standing
I have been having a huge amount of fun with texture - there is something deeply satisfying about a bit of knife action! These pieces are oil and cold wax, inspired by my walks around Rosewall Hill and Steeple Woods on the outskirts of St Ives, Cornwall.
Dance of the Sanderling
Dance of the Sanderling is inspired by these fascinating little birds. They scurry about at the edge of the surf like wind-up clockwork toys. Sanderlings visit Cornwall’s beaches in the winter from their breeding grounds in the Arctic.
Change is the Only Constant
Bamaluz Old Pier, St Ives seeks to stand as a reminder of mutability. Change is the only constant in life. The pier was built in 1864 when the local fishing fleet was thriving. Today you will see only a handful of boats in the harbour. The Common Fisheries Policy has decimated Cornwall’s fishing fleet.
